A Filipino migrant worker was shot dead after he allegedly stabbed and killed his manager and injured several co-workers in Saudi Arabia on Wednesday afternoon.

According to reports, the Filipino got into an argument with a Pakistani colleague and stabbed him. He then stabbed and killed his Saudi manager, the Department of Foreign Affairs said in a statement.

Several other co-workers were injured when they tried to intervene. The DFA said the incident happened on Farasan Island, which is 50 kilometers offshore from the southern city of Jizan.

Consul General Edgar Badajos said security personnel from the Saudi Electric Company, where the Filipino worked, immediately responded to the incident and shot and killed the man.

Badajos said the Philippine Consulate had dispatched a team to Jizan to gather more information about the incident and assist in the repatriation of the Filipino’s remains.

The identity of the Filipino man was being withheld pending notification of his next of kin.
