Fourteen of 17 members of the same family who had been on their way to a wedding party died in a traffic accident after their van crashed into a truck in central Vietnam early on Monday.

At 2:30am, the van was in a head-on collision with an incoming container truck in Quang Nam province, The Associated Press reported. According to local authorities, the accident immediately claimed the lives of the groom and 12 other people in the van, which was on its way to bride’s family in Binh Dinh city. The survivors, who were in critical condition, included two six-year-old children.

One of the survivors died later in hospital, according to a VNExpress report. The wedding was supposed to take place on Tuesday.

In Vietnam, about 8,200 people died in traffic accidents last year, compared with 8,600 in 2016. Most victims of these accidents were killed on motorbikes.
