An appeal has been launched to locate a Filipino maid who was reported missing more than one year ago in Kuwait after escaping from her employer.
The Philippine Embassy in Kuwait said Ronalyn Yonting Lawagan went to work in Kuwait in 2015. Lawagan’s family in the Philippines lost contact with her in February 2017, The Kuwait Times reported.
“We confirmed that Ronalyn Lagawan has been missing for 18 months now. We don’t know her whereabouts, but we have already coordinated with the local authorities to help us find her,” a representative from the embassy said.
Lawagan ran away from her employer in February 2017 and has not contacted her family since then. The embassy launched a social media appeal to find Lawagan.
On August 13, the embassy released a statement urging the public to contact them if they had any information on Lawagan’s whereabouts.
“Filipinos who have knowledge of Ms Lawagan’s whereabout are kindly requested to provide the embassy with her contact details as soon as possible,” the embassy said.
Anyone who has information on Lawagan’s whereabouts should contact the embassy at +965 65002612.
