Three Filipino women were arrested for allegedly selling 3.4 million pesos (US$63,665) worth of methamphetamine in Las Piñas, a city in the Philippines’ National Capital Region.
On Sunday afternoon, police arrested Laila Dolly Kamsa, 29, Momina Kiaban Kusic, 28, who are former overseas workers, and Kritinelyn Bermejo, 22, in a buy-bust operation, The Filipino Times reported.
Marion Balonglong, the city’s police chief, said a policeman posed as a buyer and was able to purchase 1.5 million pesos’ worth of meth from the three women.
Balonglong said the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency coordinated with the police to capture the suspects at an open parking lot of a mall. Police say they recovered 500 grams of meth from the suspects.
The three women were arrested and will be charged with violating Republic Act 9165, also known as the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002. The maximum penalty for selling illegal drugs is 20 years in prison and a fine of 500,000 pesos.
