Another local official was killed in the Philippines on Wednesday, marking the fourth time in just over a week.
According to Philippines website Rappler, which cited local authorities, vice-mayor Al Rashid Mohammad Ali of Sapa-Sapa municipality was killed while traveling in a car with his wife, when an assailant walked up to the vehicle’s window and shot the official three times. The suspect was able to flee the scene by motorcycle.
16 local officials have been killed since Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte took office and began a brutal anti-drug campaign.
In related news, officials in Sri Lanka are saying they will take a page from Duterte’s playbook, ending a 50-year moratorium on executions to “replicate the success” of the Philippines’ drug war.
Sri Lankan President Maithripala Sirisena told his cabinet he “was ready to sign death warrants” of drug offenders, The Guardian reported, citing a spokesperson.
“From now on, we will hang drug offenders without commuting their death sentences,” he said.
Who knows who are really doing the killings? A lone assassin does not sound like the military or police is involved !
The spate of killings appear to play into the scenario of involvement by "certain external forces" that seek a turnaround in Duterte’s rapprochement with Beijing, and "domestic forces" out to prevent the course of the trial and conviction against former president Simon Benigno Aquino and his associates on charges of plunder. I see more deaths ahead, as the drug war regains momentum, as a policy effort for rescuing the nation from the negative impact of narcotics on politics and public administration. The case of Cebu City and its incumbent mayor Tomas Osmena brings to mind an administration so long suspected of protecting drug lords and using the police Hunter Teams for murdering meth drug sellers that compete with existing drug proliferation territories. The deaths of police sergeants Adonis Dumpit and Ruel Mabano, who were both former bodyguards of the mayor, and who were former members of the Hunter Team, fueled speculation that someone is trying to cover up Osmena’s criminal tracks. The mayor is reputed to be less favored at winning another mandate in the May 2019 balloting.
A president that’s busy killing his people.remove hat monster before he finishes the whole population of Philippines.mark my word he will not stop when you start killing there are no brakes it becomes a game that’s addictive
What do you know about the Philippines to comment something like that? Let me remind you or better, inform you my friend. Not everything being shown in the TV are true, the political party defeated by our president is the liberal party, and they have powerful allies around the world that are manipulating the media for a long time.
Bad news my comments are based on the reports are you saying this official was not killed and it’s a lie
Elmer Laureta Bad news my comments are based on the reports are you saying this official was not killed and it’s a lie
Forest Isk and who are those official that was killed..?.i am a filipino and i think i know more than you about philippines…one most important thing for me is to save the future of my young countrymen than to preserved those drug lords or drugs personalities… You know why bro….in times of death of innocents people why paid medias didnt have a report on it..?..but in times of drug lords or drug protector officials will be killed it seems that they dont stop on screaming… And there you can hear the presence of human rights so is it fair enough? What do you think? Are those innocents people dosent have or are not in titled of human rights….?
Good decision Mr President, but give second chances, if he is continue second offender found to be guilty,we support your decision of hanging the culprit..
Forest Isk Better shut ur mouth wen u have nothin good and smart to say…tsk tsk seriously u only rely to reports?Duterte is my President!
Ei Blas I have not opened my mouth and I did not say I’m taking your president away.that blasphemous person
Ei Blas stupid pare your people are like slaves in Dubai and Saudi working for 2000 AED per month running away from the monster
Forest Isk, that means, they prefer those Filipinos workforce than ur countrymen people, which are luck of PR and skills. They are working, not begging or asking for asylum. Better a slave than a strong beggar in the street or a lazy refugees.
Forest Isk, Welk, if u are just a worker or just an employee of the company, u are one of a slave and will still be a slave forever. If u are a business mentor a sleeping giant like Rothschild and Rockefeller, u are WOW or SOSSY and for sure u don’t have any single time for social media. Still u are a slave of ur bosses.
Hindi kaya mga CPPNPA ang may kagagawan??? Dahil gusto nilang idestabilize ang gibyerno?
Ana Pamela Joy Buyo I’m not in the discussion.i have grown beyond slavery and have privilege to talk about it
Emziae Alfaro mare English please I don’t understand tokologo
Ana Pamela Joy Buyo yeah there are level and at the rate of 2k AED I find it very difficult to move out of slavery
Panggaon Koh Ikaw the way you passionately attack an audience without focusing on the author of this article is very amazing.I can’t change the media pari
now this so write is written by anonimous writer. you have the gall to link the killing to the current admin buy your hiding your identity? journalism eh? no accountability? mag showbiz writer ka nalang, your narrative suits better.
I think its about the upcoming Local Election. Politicians are trying to eliminate personnalities who are threats to their political ambition to win such poll.
Forest Isk the way you talk it seems that you hate the Filipinos, you racist even degrade us by comparing to slaves. But why are you interested with the affairs of our country? You clearly don’t understand and have no idea what my country is going through. Please stop talking non-sense, this is my country’s problem, leave us alone. Your country have done terrible harm to us Filipinos and our culture in the past, dont add some more. Don’t tell us what to do, we understand our situation more than what you know. So please stop
Forest lsk there is a saying, "Believing everything that you saw and heard from the media makes you an idiot". Im not saying that the official was not killed. But what this report is insinuating in in question. Please note that even before President Duterte was elected, killing of politician is not new in our country. I bet, it also happenin your country where Mr. Duterte is not your President.
Elmer Laureta true may gumagawa ng eksena para ibagsak ang administrasyon.
Did it not occur to anyone that these killings may have been done by the opposition themselves, banking on the speeches of Du30, so as to be able to put the blame on the present administration? And so they may say to the people, "see,i told you". Possible, right.
#notaproDu30 #somesenseonly
Forest Isk a sort of advice..ur comment is not welcome to us Filipinos, just attain ur own domestic problem in there, leave us alone
Forest Isk the vast majority of the Filipinos think otherwise. Duterte is not a killer. He is a father taking care of his children. Unfortunately some innocent people get killed in this war against drugs. But the vast majority of those being killed are drug addicts who have committed crimes. The truth is being twisted in the media to keep the Oligarchs in power. When the oligarchs are in power, the mass suffers!
Well said! Your statement paints the true picture of what is really happening. Drug lords/protectors cum politicians killing to save their "name/reputation and their business. Foreigners are ignorant about this and the local mainstream media are under the pay of oligarchs who lost their influence when Duterte won.
You have no knowledge of the truth. The opposition made up of oligarchs, narco politicians who lost vast sums from drugs payroll the media to attack Duterte that is why they don’t publicize the massive cheating that the Liberal party commited and instead air only negative news. They are trying to destabilize the government so they can place their puppet Leni Robredo-the fake/cheater vice president-to replace Duterte.
Kill them all and free all drug lords…..shame on our government for doing nothing for the poor but to kill, and the rest are killing me softly….i am a Filipino citizen stand for my country not to anyone in the government….
True thats from his mouth…to kill and kill, so what we expect?
Forest Isk, what do you know about Philippines? Are you a Filipino? Or maybe you are one of those who was misinformed? Sad to say Bro, its not what you think. The previous administration is doing what they are known for, to spread lies and trying to get sympathy from other countries. They cannot get what they wanted for from the Filipinos anymore. Dont believe on what you see on TVs ang other news articles. The Philippine President is not killing his people and did not even sanction to kill even those invoved in drugs.
Forest Isk killing is always happening in the philippines whoever the president either by politics or personal grudge.we know this simply caused we live here.
Ja Ron-a Your correct noon pa.man may patayan na hindi nga lang iniyagyag ng mga media dahil the people.involve are darling of the press so wla talagang mabalitaan ang mga Pilipino, sa laki at dami ng kalaban ng Duterte government expect ka na lang na may mga ganitong mga balita at ibintang sa Pangulo,
Forest Isk the report was true. But you are saying that the president is killing his people??? Are u here in the philippines to say that??
