A Filipino saleswoman was allegedly raped after an Iranian man drove her out into the desert in Dubai.

On December 10, 2017, the Iranian, 29 invited the Filipina 33, to a barbecue party in the desert with his friends. The Filipina said she and the man had met in 2016 through a mutual friend, Gulf News reported.

The Filipina declined his invitation but met with him for coffee at around 11pm on the same day. The man then drove her to a desert location where they were joined by three other men and one woman.

At around 3am, she asked the Iranian to take her home after his friends had left, but he insisted that she stay with him a little longer. In the car, the man allegedly attacked the Filipina, removed her clothes and raped her. She also sustained bruises in the attack.

The victim reported the incident to the police and the man was arrested. On Monday at the Dubai Court of First Instance, the man pleaded not guilty to rape.

The Filipina is seeking compensation of 21,000 dirhams (US$5,718) for moral and emotional damages.
