A Taiwanese woman has accused a group of Vietnamese migrants of stealing and eating one of her pet dogs. The woman, from Changhua County, filed a report with authorities accusing 15 Vietnamese migrant workers of killing and cooking one of her pet dogs over the weekend.

The woman had two native Taiwanese dogs who lived outdoors and was shocked to find only the younger one by the doorstep of her home on July 14, The United Daily News reported, citing an online post.

The woman checked her CCTV footage, which showed two migrant workers on a motorcycle and one grabbing dog by the back legs and taking it away. She went in the direction of the bike and found herself at a worker hostel on Wengong Second Street in Shengang Town, where she found dog hair on the ground near a barbecue pit, but no sign of her pet. None of the 15 Vietnamese migrant workers there admitted taking her dog.

After filing a report to police, officers from the Animal Disease Control Centre of Changhua County conducted search at the hostel where some raw dog meat was recovered from a fridge. One of the Vietnamese workers told an officer that the dog had been hit and killed by a car and later cut into parts by a compatriot.

The investigation is ongoing. Authorities are looking for the Vietnamese national who killed the dog.
