A video of 70-year-old local man being hit by a motorcycle while jaywalking in Bendemeer Road in Singapore on Saturday has gone viral on the island.

At 1:50pm, police received a report about a traffic accident.

According to video footage uploaded to a Facebook page named Roads.sg, cars were stopped or moving slowly on the road due to traffic congestion. The man was hit by the motorcycle and thrown about one meter through the air before landing on the road. The motorcyclist and nearby drivers rushed to help him.

He suffered minor abrasions and remained conscious before being taken to Tan Tock Seng Hospital, The Straits Times reported, citing a police spokesperson.

Many people who saw the video online said the injured man was to blame for the accident as he was breaking the law by jaywalking, while others said they hoped he would recover quickly from his injuries.

Police are investigating the case.
