A Filipino domestic worker was allegedly abused by her employer after she refused to clean three additional houses in Dammam, Saudi Arabia.

The domestic worker, whose identity was not disclosed, said her female employer locked her in a room and beat her because she refused to clean other houses, GMA News reported.

She said her employer threatened to have her arrested, despite her employment contract stipulating that she is only allowed to work in one household. The employer also tried to confiscate her mobile phone.

The domestic worker’s mother in the Philippines is said to be worried about her daughter and seeking help from the Philippines government.

Overseas Workers Welfare Administration deputy administrator Arnell Ignacio said they will address the problem and offer assistance to the domestic worker.
