About 1,600 suspected bullets and airgun parts were confiscated in an apartment in Discovery Bay on Lantau Isand by police officers on Thursday.

At noon, a 41-year-old female informed the police that she had found what appeared to be ammunition and airgun parts in an apartment on Costa Avenue, news website HK01.com reported.

Police officers arrived and confiscated the items for further examination.

It is understood that the woman was clearing out the apartment of her father, who for several years has lived in a home for the elderly, Ming Pao Daily reported.

Headline Daily reported that the father was the former chairman of a gun club.

According to the Hong Kong Firearms and Ammunition Ordinance, offenders can face up to 14 years in jail and a HK$100,000 (US$12,747) fine for the possession of arms or ammunition without a licence.
