A Filipino maid asked to terminate her employment contract in Hong Kong after claiming her employer had a camera in the toilet, but a police search found nothing.
The incident came to light when the female employer posted a hand-written letter by her domestic worker on a Facebook group called “Employer-employee relationship,” which sparked a heated discussion online, the Oriental Daily reported.
According to the letter, dated April 13, the maid claimed she worked under “emotional and psychological stress” after learning from the 5-year-old girl in her care that her male employer could monitor rooms in the home, including the toilet, on his mobile phone.
The maid claimed she had reported the case to police, the letter said. Her female employer denied the allegation and said the maid had submitted her resignation two days before making the allegation.
The maid’s employer insisted there was no camera in the toilet, but added that the domestic worker acknowledged the existence of four cameras in the home because they had clearly marked their location on the employment contract.
The employer said she reported the case to police, who came to the house. After police arrived and checked the house, they said they did not find a camera in the toilet. The maid could not provide police with any evidence to support her allegation.
The employer said she ended the contract with the maid by paying her in lieu of notice and warned other employers not to hire her.
Some people following the saga online suspected the maid was trying to get money from employers through severance pay by hopping jobs. Others said employers should protect themselves by stating the number and whereabouts of cameras in a home on the employment contract or to report a case to police if similar allegations were made.

They don’t have trust even in them Self. My employer house we don’t have any even we leave in residential house because they trust the security and they trust human being.
Ummmm the little kids 90%saying the truth.and maybe the allegations is true. now a days you can buy a very small camera that you can hide and easy to removed.

I have 11 camera or more, i dont know exactly, but when i count it only 11 but i saw there are two more hiding outside on top of roof of second foor so i think its all 14 camera’s, but i dont care and i dont get offend coz i only thinkng i trust myself more than they think! ✌️???????????? im happy working wth them becoming 3 yrs.

You better take care your own family for your safe and peace of mind, rather than hire any foriegn helper.. If you dont have trust and confident the helper, she 10x do not trust u..

Correct… Some employers in hk are not good… They are very tough about food even though in the contract has food allowance.. They insist to give to the helper

Why employer can warned other employers not to hire maids that they dont like? Why we maids can do the same thing?
Sa totoo lang in my opinion mahirap tlga magtiwala sa stranger sa bahay, aminin man natin o hindi trust is something we can only get in a course of time, they have no other choice but to hire a maid because they need it but also they need to play safe din of course they have to make sure they are not being or abused by the strangers they let them live inside their houses, if we are honest to ourselves and we know we’re not doing anything wrong then there’s no point of being stressed over cameras even if they had it in every corner, unless they spare your room and your toilet of cameras there’s nothing to worry about. Guys in this case i do understand employers who put cameras in their houses becausewe are strangers in the first place until they get to know us trust is being establish between us and our employers, actually for me i feel much better having those cameras because I hate being asked where is their personal stuffed i could ask them to checks their monitors where their things are instead of blaming me or asking me to find it or accusing me of stealing it or even if they are accusing me of slacking around if they are not at home. On the other hand i also understand other fellows who feel uneasy with those cameras as they feel they are being followed around specially if you are not being used to it.hayaan nu mga kababayan time comes na wala ng pilipinong magiging katulong sa h.k pra dna tau nag susuffer ng mga inhumane treatment ng mga ibang abusadong employers employers pero sna gumawa ng paraan ang ating gobyerno na protektahan tau pra d tau maging biktima ng pang aabuso ng ibang tao dhil katulong lang tau sa bansa nla.
Hahhaah ang comments padamihan na ng camera. Anyway if its stated in the contract and u agree then u shud live with it. But ako im Not comfortable with that kasi minsan pg wala amo ko tumatakbo ako from toilet to my room naked hahahahah

For employers sake and think about their safety especially if they have small kids at home. i dont mind working with cctv even a dozen or hundreds of it, as long as they dont mind watching me walking and working around naked with 5 layers of fats and watching me with vital stats of 48 48 56 duh.
