For the first four months of 2018 the number of Chinese companies investing in Brazil increased significantly, with an investment amount totalling US$1.34 billion, Xinhua news agency reported.

According to the latest data released by the Ministry of Planning, Development and Management in Brazil, the total investment made by Chinese enterprises in the country during March and April this year was US$992.7 million, and involved everything from oil and gas, to mechanical equipment, education, trade and retail.

Over the past 15 years, Chinese companies have participated in 262 projects in Brazil, with a total investment value of US$126.7 billion, spanning multiple areas and gradually diversifying.

The secretary of International Affairs of the Brazilian Ministry of Planning, Development and Management, Jorge Arbache, expressed the hope that Chinese companies will increase investment in greenfield projects and introduce new and high technologies.
