Three Pakistani men pleaded guilty in the High Court in Hong Kong to manslaughter after ambushing and beating a construction site watchman to death in the New Territories in 2016.
The three men, aged between 23 and 31, were named as Nawaz Ahsan and Arbaz Muhammad, both construction workers, and Nawaz Mohsin, a salesperson, the Oriental Daily reported.
The three men pleaded guilty to manslaughter in the High Court, but denied being involved in a premeditated murder.
The court heard that one of the men worked on the same construction site as the watchman, who was named only as Au, and suspected Au of playing a role in his transfer to another construction site.
Upset at being transferred, the man and his friends decided to teach the 62-year-old watchman a lesson and ambushed Au in an alley between Kiu Fat Street and Kiu Wong Street in Tin Shui Wai in the New Territories on Feb. 14, 2016.
Two of the men brutally beat Au, while the third filmed the beating on a mobile phone. Au was later found dead on the street and a coroner confirmed he died with broken ribs, a hemorrhage and injuries to the liver and kidneys.
The three men told police they did not intend to kill Au, only teach him a lesson.
