China has deployed its Liaoning aircraft carrier with escorting warships near Hainan Island as the US Navy’s Theodore Roosevelt strike group enters the South China Sea, according to a Hong Kong press report.
Sing Tao Daily said Thursday that the Nimitz-class carrier Roosevelt and the other warships of Carrier Strike Group 9 have ended a port visit to Singapore and are now sailing in the South China Sea.
The Roosevelt’s strike group includes the guided-missile cruiser USS Bunker Hill and guided-missile destroyer USS Sampson, according to Singapore’s Straits Times.
The Chinese carrier group appears to be engaging in naval drills near Hainan. Hainan Province maritime officials have reportedly issued a temporary ban on travel in waters near the island, because of military maneuvers that are scheduled to take place from Thursday to Wednesday.
UPI, in picking up the story, noted the Roosevelt is sailing within the “nine-dash line” that extends more than 1,200 miles from the Chinese mainland into the South China Sea. Beijing claims the waters as its own, while the US and other nations say the area is in international waters.
The US Carl Vinson carrier strike group conducted joint exercises with Japanese naval units in the Western Pacific last month and is now headed back to its home port in San Diego.
Satellite photos show that China conducted a large-scale naval exercise near Hainan Island at the end of March. The ships included the Liaoning and 40 other warships.

China is planning to take over ENTIRE South Chian Sea as close as just 1 mile off the shores of Vietnam, Brunei, Malaysia and Philippines and 2000 miles from China, virtually rendering all these countries without a drop of water in South China Sea because the minute Vietnamese, Bruneians, Malaysians and Filipinos dip their feet in the water of South China Sea that wash their shores, they are in China’s waters – if China has its way..
China want to take ENTIRE South China Sea like it took TIBET..after seizing the Sea, China will claim entire countries of Malaysia, Vietnam, Brunei and Philippines based on some anscient Chinese bullshit old Chinese dynaties hsitory. China’s real goal is not just the Sea but the ENTIRE LAND MASS that today comprises Malaysia, Singapore, Brinei, Vietnam and Philippines. Countries need to challenge China’s agression in SCS. Claiming the Sea is a prelude to claiming all these countries. China is a hegemon, and expamsionist and and a would-be colonizer if nonody challenges it.
There are strategoc take overs. If China thought that occupying Tibet was her personal business it meant that it accorded high priority of occupying the plateau for strategic purposes and building defense lines or installing missile bases. The Lhasa high speed rail track has strategic meaning and not all tourism.The Chinese intrusion in north east Ladakh was taken kindly by the western power and so was its control of Tibet. The red army has spread its tentacles in the Himalayan high altitude regions throught he entire length of the Indian border. China regularly deposes itself against India and issues veiled threats. Due to political systems, India’s military defense is not up to the mark but India is not waht it used to be in 1962 and the Indian Military establishment is vowed to teach China a lesson anytime in near future to take on their build up to level the losses of 1962. I am of the view the sovereignty and friendship are a farce and national interests supreme. The so called ‘national interests’ are formed by strategic think tanks and exapansionist minds and I hope USA will brush aside the Chinese accusations and lordship in South China Sea or the Pacific. US must see as early as possible to destroy Chinese built up in both the Pacific as well as Indian Ocean. India wants to remain in peace but cannot fight a long war with China. If China thinks of waging a war against India and strikes heavy losses within the early days, it can do so but will be foolhardy to judge the temperament of Indian people who have been boiling their broth even since 1962. Chinese bossed can’t think of losing their economic empire by waging a large scale war against their neighbors or powerful nuclear powers. US must strike Chinese military designs as early as possible.
It is time this barefaced chinese should be challenged…

If china really believes it has indisputable claims to the islands and reefs then why doesnt china prove it in an international court? Prove it and everybody will respect china, otherwise china is just bullshit. Right now, everybody hates china, china is considered the number threat to world security. The reason why countries are still friendly with china is because of trade and commerce otherwise, countries would have bombed china back to the dark ages.

Beijing claims the waters as its own, while the US and other nations say the area is in international waters.” However, according to Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Hua Chunying’s Remarks on the US Warship’s Entry into the Neighboring Waters of China’s Islands and Reefs in the South China Sea on March 23, 2018, she said “China has indisputable sovereignty over Nansha Qundao and its adjacent waters. China always respects and safeguards the freedom of navigation and overflight in the South China Sea all countries are entitled to under international law, but firmly opposes any country or person undermining the sovereignty and security of littoral countries under the pretext of freedom of navigation and overflight." China did not say the water within the nine-dash- line is its own.
