A Filipino maid has died after falling from the sixth floor of her employer’s house in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. The domestic worker was rushed to the Madinah National Hospital last Friday but died after she arrived, GMA News reported.
Consul General Edgar Badajos, of the Philippine Consulate General in Jeddah, said the initial autopsy failed to show signs of physical abuse. He added that the maid was from Basilan in Mindanao and had worked in Saudi Arabia for more than two months.
The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said in a statement that the Consulate was coordinating with the Jeddah authorities as part of the investigation into the domestic worker’s death.
“Consul General Badajos immediately dispatched a team from the Consulate General which will coordinate with authorities investigating the case,” DFA said.
The Consulate is trying to contact the victim’s employment agency in Manila and her family in Basilan.
