A Filipino nurse has won 50,000 dirhams (US$13,600) from a promotion by money-transfer company Xpress Money and Abu Dhabi Commercial Bank (ADCB) in the United Arab Emirates.

Florence Lomibao, who went to the UAE more than two years ago for work, said she would use a part of the prize money for the completion of her house in the Philippines, The Filipino Times reported.

In 2017, Lomibao started the construction of a house for her family in her homeland. She saved half of her salary every month for the project. She said that with the prize money, the house could now be completed in about 45 days.

Lomibao said two of her siblings were also working abroad, while her two other siblings were in the Philippines taking care of their parents.

She said she would also use some of the money to pay for her parents’ medication and the family’s living expenses, and possibly to start a small business in the Philippines.

Lomibao currently works in a hospital in Al Ain, a city in the eastern part of Abu Dhabi emirate.
