A domestic worker who lost several thousand Hong Kong dollars in cash got her money back after a staff member found it in a grocery store in Yuen Long, New Territories.
Last Friday, the 30-year-old maid went shopping for groceries in a store on New Street, Apple Daily reported. After leaving the store, she realized that she had lost HK$7,000 cash (US$895). She immediately returned to the store, but could not find the lost money.
It was understood that the money belonged to her employer. The domestic worker was very worried and couldn’t sleep for a few nights as she expected that her boss would deduct the loss from her salary.
In the meantime, a female staffer found the money as she was tidying up the stocks. She then wrote a note saying “We found HK$7,000 cash, please contact us ASAP” in Chinese on a piece of cardboard and placed it in the store.
As many domestic workers shop in that particular store, the woman who found the cash asked some of them to translate the notice and post it with a photo on Facebook to let other workers know.
On Tuesday, the maid who had lost the money went to the store. After verifying that she was the right person with surveillance video, the staffer returned the money to the relieved maid.
In return, the domestic worker bought some fruit and gave her benefactor a big hug in appreciation.

I dont really understand why, kapwa Pilipina mga nag co comments pero ang dignidad bilang pagka Pilipino mismong binababa nila. Ika nga talkers are doers. Hindi lahat ng Pilipino ay gahaman at sinungaleng or magnanakaw at hindi lahat ng ibang lahi ay mababait. Common sense sana may CCTV or surveilance camera ang store so di rin pwede kunin nung nakapulot yung alam nyang hindi kanya. Sana bago mag komento isipin din natin kung nakakabuti ba o hindi sa ating Lahi bilang kapwa Pilipino ang ating mga sinasabe. Lets always be possitive. Just saying
