A Filipino domestic worker was sentenced to a year in jail at Kowloon City Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday.
Semira Arlene Tejada had pleaded guilty to stealing HK$200,000 (US$25,570) in cash from her employer at a flat in Phoenix Court on Broadcast Drive in Kowloon Tong on October 6 last year, Sing Tao Daily reported.
The court heard that the maid’s employer, local inventor Vani Li Wai-yan, put HK$200,000 cash in the dining room. However, he later had trouble finding the money and thought he had put the cash in another place.
Li later found that Tejada, who worked for him for a few months, had bought an air-ticket to the Philippines for HK$5,600. He suspected that the domestic worker stole his money.
Li called the police and found out later that the defendant admitted that she had stolen his cash. She had sent HK$110,000 back home in the Philippines and spent the rest of it in Hong Kong.

Cinconiegue Luna wala nman pong nanghuhusga ate.. pero kami po na nandito sa nagtratrabaho ng maayos ay nadadamay. Kaya hindi mo po kami masisisi kung nag sasalita kami ng negatibo. Negatibong gawa of course what do you expect on people how to react. Right?! Anyway, don’t hide your face!

She pleaded guilty that means she admitted tha she did the crime…kc kung ndi nya ginawa bakit xa aamin?db tyo mga filipinos mahalaga ang reputasyon?dpat ipinaglaban nya kung ano ung totoo dahil kahit billions of dollars ndi mababayaran ang masisirang reputasyon….sna po kung ndi nyo ginawa,ipaglaban po natin
if she stole the money, then the reason she did so is moot and acedemic. There is simply no reason for anyone to steal anything. You should not steal, period! You steal, you pay the consequences. Walang pinag kaiba ang ninakaw na 5 centavos sa ninakaw na HK$200,000. Pag nag nakaw ka ng kahit singko setimos, isang magnanakaw ka na.

Paano kaya nya naipadala?kase the last time a recieved my ls from my first employer. ..noong idideposit ko sa banko here in hk….questionable…ask nila where did you get this amount….luckily my release letter ako at kasya tan buhat kay amo….Tapos itong huli nang utang ako kay amo bagong amo for 12 yrs. ..32k pagreremit mo tinatanong k rin ng banko saan galing yong pera….kaya nga beforehand nag ask ako sa amo ko ng letter na katunayan na galing at utang ko yon sa kanya….so Paano nya naipadala yong kalahati ng nakuha nya. …
