An exchange student from England was arrested on Tuesday for reportedly punching another student from the United States in a flight on a university campus in Kowloon.

At 6am a male exchange student from the US got into an argument with a student from England at a Hong Kong Baptist University dormitory on Baptist University Road in Kowloon Tong, Headline Daily reported.

It was understood that the two young men, both 21, argued over a girl.

The row turned physical with the British student allegedly hitting the American student, causing the latter to have a bloody head and nose.

A 60-year-old security guard surnamed Tsang heard the noise and alerted the police when he saw the student injured.

Police arrived and arrested the British student for common assault, Oriental Daily reported.

The injured student, who was accompanied by a female exchange student from Denmark, was sent to the hospital for treatment. He discharged shortly after.

A spokesperson for the Baptist University said the duo were short-term exchange students from overseas and they had learnt a lesson from the incident and would be given assistance if it was needed.
