Police arrested seven people in an early-morning raid last weekend on an illegal casino set up in an apartment in Yau Ma Tei, Kowloon.
At 1am on Saturday, a 22-year-old man of Pakistani origin and suspected triad links was arrested for allegedly operating the gambling den and possession of offensive weapons in the apartment on Pilkem Street, Oriental Daily reported.
Two men aged 25 and 42 of Indian origin and three Hong Kong men were arrested for gambling in the establishment.
A 23-year-old Indian man was arrested after failing to produce proof of his identity.
The police confiscated an electronic fishing machine, an electronic flying-insect machine, 10 stored-value cards and a card reader, and HK$3,300 (US$422) in cash from the casino.
Police also seized two extendible batons, which could be used as weapons, from under the cashier table.
It was believed that the gambling den, which had only been in operation for a week, was controlled by a triad group and brought in daily revenue of around HK$30,000.
