Police have arrested four people in connection with the death of Dr Deepak Amarapurkar, a renowned gastroenterologist who fell into a manhole on August 29 as heavy rains flooded Mumbai, PTI reported.
According to police, the four men, Siddhesh Bhelsekar, Rakesh Kadam, Nilesh Kadam and Dinesh Pawar, allegedly opened the manhole to allow water in the area, which had flooded their houses, to drain out.
Dr Amarapurkar, who worked at Bombay Hospital, was last seen near Elphinstone Road station, where his driver had dropped him off
The four accused have been booked under section 304 (A) (causing death by negligence).
