TTV Dhinakaran, deputy general secretary of All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), on Thursday asked Tamil Nadu Governor C Vidyasagar Rao to order a floor test for the Edappadi K Palaniswami government, according to media reports.

Dhinakaran has sought the removal of Chief Minister E Palaniswami and his deputy, O Panneerselvam, PTI reported. He said, “It is evident [Palaniswami] has no majority. Therefore, he should be asked [by the governor] to prove majority. Our intention is to change the chief minister and O Panneerselvam.”

Reports said that Dhinakaran further claimed that the governor told him that he was following the developments and would “soon take a good decision.” He said, “We requested the governor to conduct a floor test at the earliest possible and not to give room for horse trading. He assured us that he would take a good decision.”

On August 22, 19 MLAs who withdrew support from the ruling party and switched to Dhinakaran’s camp submitted a letter to Governor Vidyasagar Rao asking that Palaniswami be removed.
