Over 100 passengers became trapped on the Lucknow Metro on its maiden commercial run but were rescued after an hour on Wednesday, according to media reports.

Due to a technical glitch, the train’s air conditioner and lights went off, causing passengers to panic.

A Lucknow Metro Rail Corporation official told PTI, “There was some fault in this traction and we are working on it. All trains are plying on the other parallel track.”

The passengers disembarked through the emergency exit at the rear of the train.

Lucknow Metro was inaugurated on Tuesday by Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
