A Myanmese woman is being investigated over suspected abuse of a mentally-disabled woman after a Singaporean couple were shocked to discover their 26-year-old daughter had unexplained bruises and injuries.
According to Shin Min Daily News, closed circuit television footage appears to show the Myanmese woman, who is 25, inflicting the wounds.
In April this year, a 58-year-old businessman, surnamed Du hired the woman as a domestic worker through an employment agency at Bukit Timah Shopping Centre, the newspaper reports.
Du and his wife have two adult children – a son, 31, and daughter, 26 – who were born with mental disabilities and have to be cared for. They reported that they had found unaccounted-for bruises on their daughter over the last two months. Then, on July 29, she complained of pain in the back of her neck, prompting her parents to get through the footage from a closed circuit television camera at home.
Reports indicate that footage from 5am that day shows the maid grabbing the couple’s daughter and shaking her head violently, as well as shoving her and pushing her up against the wall.
The maid denied any wrongdoing but the couple reported the case to the police, who are treating it as a suspected abuse case.
if she keeps leaving him, obviously something’s wrong between them
