A 28-year-old Canadian has died after being found unconscious in a guest room in Tsim Sha Tsui, Kowloon, on Friday morning. At 7:30am, the man was found in coma in a guesthouse on Nathan Road by his friends, Oriental Daily reported.

Paramedics sent the man to hospital but he was certified dead later.

Police said the man, who was a teacher at an international school in Shenzhen, had visited Hong Kong on Wednesday and rented a room in the guesthouse.

On Thursday night, the man, his girlfriend and two other female friends were drinking alcohol in the guest room until he went to sleep at 4am on Friday.

When his girlfriend tried to wake him later that morning, he failed to regain consciousness, Sing Tao Daily reported.

Police did not rule out the possibility that consumption of a large quantity of alcohol had led to his death, but the actual cause will be determined after an autopsy.
