A new mobile application has been launched to protect doctors in West Bengal from patients’ angry relatives and attendants, according to media reports.
The West Bengal Doctors’ Forum developed the app, which records unusual encounters with patients’ relatives and notifies the authorities, the Times of India reported.
A senior doctor was quoted as saying, “The app comes with a customized panic button and SOS alert system. And, whenever a doctor faces such a violent situation at [their] workplace, he can simply press [the] SOS button to alert the West Bengal Doctors’ Forum. The app will send an alert not only to the registered 15,000 doctors of the forum but also to local police stations.”
