Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said on Tuesday, during a visit to Manila, that he support the idea of joint Chinese-Philippine energy ventures in the disputed South China Sea and warned against unilateral projects, reports Reuters.
The comments come after Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte said Monday that Manila had found a partner for energy projects in the sea, including oil field development and exploration. Exploitation of the projects would begin this year, Duterte added.
“In waters where there are overlapping maritime rights and interests, if one party goes for unilateral development, and the other party takes the same action, that might complicate the situation at sea,” Wang was quoted by Reuters as saying.
“That might lead to tension, and as the end result, nobody would be able to develop resources.”
In Washington, they are quarelling "Who lost Philippines?" LOL!
