Seventy-two passengers were trapped for 10 minutes on a ride at Hong Kong Disneyland on Sunday evening, resulting in the facility being closed for an hour.
At 6pm, the Big Grizzly Mountain Runaway Mine Cars roller coaster stopped in the middle of an incline on the tracks because of a mechanical fault, Oriental Daily reported, citing a picture contributed by a man who was at the site.
Disneyland staff helped the 72 passengers get out the ride within 10 minutes. No one was injured, Sing Tao Daily reported.
The ride reopened at 7pm, Disneyland said, adding that the incident did not involve any safety issue or malfunction of the operation system.
A Hong Kong man told media that there were about 100 people queuing up for the ride before the incident. Some of them were frustrated by the temporarily closure of the roller coaster, while others said they would not try the ride even if it were reopened, he said.
