An international education company has recognized the improved performance of an Indian institution of higher learning.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT)-Bombay moved up to 179th place in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings.
IIT, which was ranked at 219th place last year, joins IIT-Delhi (172) and the Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (190) in the top 200. This is the first time in the past 14 years that three Indian institutes have made the top 200 list.
“The improved ranking is a reflection of the continuous improvement of the quality of education and research at IIT-B,” Devang Khakhar, the director of IIT-B, was quoted as saying.
The QS World University Rankings features the 950 best universities in the world.
