With the hot summer weather finally here in Hong Kong, snakes have come out in search of food and a man in a high-rise had an alarm “bite” from an unwelcome visitor on Friday morning.

A foot-long black-and-white banded pet snake, which had escaped from a neighbor, bit one of the man’s fingers at 5am as he slept in his 15th floor apartment in Cheung Ling Mansion at 162 Connaught Road West, Sai Wan, in Hong Kong Island West, Apple Daily reported.

The shocked man rushed out of his bedroom and called the police. He was sent to hospital. A snake catcher removed the non-venomous reptile.

In Kowloon, a 15-foot, 25kg Burmese python entered a house in Cheung Hang Village in Lai Chi Kok on Wednesday, Oriental Daily reported. A snake catcher struggled to secure the reptile for 10 minutes before he could remove it.

The python will be sent to the Kadoorie Farm and Botanic Garden, and released into the countryside later.

In the Siena residences in Discovery Bay on Lantau Island, a two-foot-long cobra was caught at noon on Thursday.

At 1am, a two-meter-long python was seen in a store room for security guards in Belleview Place on Repulse Bay Road in Hong Kong Island South. It had gone before a snake catcher arrived.
