A 39-year-old land broker allegedly killed a waiter from Tamil Nadu in a plot to fake his own death and collect Rs4 crore (US$6,200) from an insurance company, according to media reports.
Ramdas Wagh, who is from Nashik, apparently thought his plan had worked until the postmortem report revealed that the victim, Mubarak Chand Pasha, had been choked to death and had suffered injuries to his head caused by a blunt object, reported the Times of India.
Wagh, who is on the run, allegedly hatched the murder plot with three others, all of whom have been arrested.
