A 33-year-old Filipino migrant worker is now in stable condition after health authorities confirmed he had dengue fever in the third imported case reported in Macau this year.
The Health Bureau of Macau said the man lives on Rua de Tomé Pires in St Anthony’s Parish near the ruins of St Paul’s Cathedral and his flatmates had no symptoms.
He travelled to the Philippines from May 23 to June 3 and came back with fever, muscle pain and weakness on June 5, Macao Daily reported.
He first sought treatment at a private clinic, then was admitted to Kiang Wu Hospital on June 6, and laboratory results confirmed he had type 2 dengue fever on Thursday.
The patient was reportedly in stable condition and his fever had gone.
The bureau would conduct mosquito prevention measures in the neighborhood where the man lives, the Chinese-language Jornal Cheng Pou reported.
