Solutions to Italy’s non-performing loan woes have not materialized, despite the success other EU countries, such as Ireland, have seen easing bad debt problems.

As debt weighs on the country’s prospects, the quality of the NPL portfolios is deteriorating even further, with borrowers still struggling in some sectors.

The Financial Times reports that while hope is resting on vague prospects of the European Central Bank and EU swooping in to save the day, anti-EU political winds stirring in Italy are scaring away investors.
