Just four days after their wedding, a Mumbai man allegedly strangled his bride, chopped her body into pieces and dumped them across the city, which police said he accomplished with the help of his parents and two friends.
According to reports, Siddhesh Gurav allegedly borrowed a friend’s car to dispose of his wife Priyanka’s body parts. Her torso was found in a nullah (watercourse) on May 6 and the murder is believed to have been committed on April 4.
Senior Inspector C Katkar was quoted as saying, “We have recovered all her body parts. We will not hand over those to her family yet as DNA tests are to be conducted this week.”
On Saturday, the police took Vishal Soni, 34, whose car was allegedly used to dump the body parts, into custody and during interrogation he revealed information about his car, which was found on Monday in Ambivli on the outskirts of Mumbai.
The conspiracy to murder Priyanka was allegedly hatched before the wedding and involved his parents, Manohar and Madhuri, and a friend named Durgesh Patwa.
A police officer was was quoted as saying, “Siddhesh had been in a relationship with Priyanka for nearly two years and initially refused to get married to her despite her insistence. Later, when she said she would complain to the police if he did not tie the knot, he and his parents decided to hold the marriage ceremony without inviting anyone else in the society.
He added: “They planned to kill her soon after. Accordingly, on the fifth day after the wedding, Siddhesh allegedly strangled Priyanka to death. Later, Manohar’s friend, Durgesh, came to their house, cut her body into four pieces and threw them at different places in Navi Mumbai.”
