A manhunt is under way for seven locals armed with knives who ambushed and slashed two men as they alighted from a taxi on Nathan Road in Yau Ma Tei in the Hong Kong district of Kowloon on Wednesday morning.

At 7am, the victims, surnamed Lee, 39, and Lam, 29, were stabbed multiple times when the seven locals jumped out of two cars at the junction of Man Ming Lane and Nathan Road, Sing Tao Daily reported.

The victims got back into the taxi and asked the 51-year-old driver to help them flee from the attackers.

But the frightened cabbie left his car. The attackers repeatedly stabbed the victims arms and backs, and then took off in the two cars.

The victims were treated at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, with Lee in serious condition and Lam in critical condition. The police said the men worked as junket promoters in Macau, Apple Daily reported.
