Pictures showing a woman cleaning windows from the outside at a multi-storey residential building in Hong Kong have gone viral on social media after new regulations forbidding the practice were introduced earlier this year.
Pictures uploaded by a Facebook user on Sunday morning show a woman seen standing outside the windows of an apartment in Celestial Heights in Ho Man Tin in Kowloon. The woman is clearly engaged in cleaning the windows.
The Facebook user indicated that she could not see clearly whether the woman had a safety belt. It was difficult to identify whether the woman was a domestic worker or not.
Others commented that it was dangerous for any person to clean external windows without having received proper training. They said the apartment owner should hire professionals to do the job.
Over the past five years, there have been five cases of foreign domestic workers falling to their deaths while cleaning windows. On August 9 last year, a 35-year-old Filipino maid fell from an apartment on the 49th floor in Lohas Park in Tseung Kwan O whilst doing so.
New regulations, effective from January 1 this year, stipulate that no part of a domestic worker’s body, arms excepted, must be outside of a window while it is being cleaned.

Kiddos Aaron Alessandra maybe you mistaken the object used by that woman to clean as another woman…only one person is doing the cleaning…
We’re here to work for our family but not to the extent of risking our lives.Learn how to say "NO" to your boss if you know that you have the right too.
you are not required to go outside that window to cleAn it…
Labor Department, do something about this, asap!
She has the right to complain about it,not always the employer is right and we need to follow every single minute we have the right also especially death over life
This is total BS! The employers should be fined (if not imprisoned) for this!

Unfortunately helpers will never refused to obey the employers orders whether legal or otherwise. Will the authorities ever take action even if they are presented with solid evidence such as this?

Let the employer clean that one..and if they will fall, then they should know how risk the life of their helper….quittttssss
