Pyongyang has ignored recent overtures from Chinese diplomats to arrange a meeting, as Kim Jong-un continues to test China’s patience, reports Bloomberg.

China’s foreign minister Wang Yi as well as envoy to North Korea, Wu Dawei, both saw their requests to meet with counterparts fall on deaf ears, despite the Kim regime’s reliance on China’s economic support for its survival.

Beijing has been careful not to publicly rebuke their obstinate ally, calling on “all parties” to refrain from provoking and threatening each other, suggesting the US shares the blame for escalating tensions. But intransigence on the part of North Korea’s 33 year-old leader is likely to test Xi Jinping’s patience, already worn thin by previous slights on the part of Kim.
