Twenty-two people were arrested, aged between 25 and 60, by police in an unlicensed bar targeting mainly Filipino customers in Central in Hong Kong Island on Friday.
At around 6pm, police officers from the anti-triad squad in Central district raided an apartment on 12-13 Li Yuen Street East and arrested a Hong Kong man surnamed Yeung, 57, for selling and possessing liquor for sale without a license, Sing Tao Daily reported.
Three Indian men, two Filipino men and 16 Filipino women were arrested on suspicion of drinking on an unlicensed premises.

Nelie Mendoza matigas pa rin talaga ulo ng iba….. gropo gropo maiingay lalo pag lashing na…wala na sa ayos as if nasa darling bahay nila sa Pinas….warning na yan sa iba na mga suki tuwing holiday….just an observation..
Rowena Dela Cruz Tonggol ignorance to the law is not an excuse…。。cause clearly that the place itself is not a premise to do drinking…sa araw beauty shop pagkagat ng dilim converted to illegal karaoke bar…..talamak yan dito sa alley~alley…. mga pinoy di na Natoto..
Lee Soo Young .. what if those drinkers on that premises didn’t Kno that the place was unlicensed
Yes.
Good job HK police. Hopefully one day i cannot see my fellow kababayan walking zigzag, screaming, because they are drunk. They are very young and beautiful. They need some good company. Days off is fun, HK is good for fun but we must have limitations and not giving shame to all Pinoy here.
The point is do not sale, buy nor drink in unlicensed premises……
Ds is unlicensed area…must follow the law we are not in our own country.
I think so, as an awareness to people going to unlicensed bars partying.
Itanong mo kay kuya…
News like this is intended to deter illegal business activity as to limit the competition with licensed business. Poor man was just trying to make a living by allowing low wage earners have safe place to drink and socialize. No different from a keg party on a college campus
Unfair to the costmers… why? How could they know in the first place if the bar has licence or not… but better stay out of that place than to be jailed..
anong pong Bar ang Nahuli?
Just sorry for those costumers who is just having fun or enjoying their day offs,& of course they dont
Have any idea that the premises is not licensed at all..
I just comment in behalf of fellow domestic helper but I do abide the law in Hong kong..
Illegal is illegal so to speak. Hong Kong has a strict implementation of laws and obviously we as foreign workers should obey as most locals do.
So maybe it’s better to raid every week because those bar in ale ale or li yuen street will not get a liquor license because it’s too expensive and those bar are only full during holidays
Consuming liquors in Hong Kong is not prohibited even in public places but to do it in unlicensed establishments is against the law. Its not an excuse either you go out for fun during days off or something else, the thing is you patronize illegal premises.
Point is drinking is not a crime unless in a commercial premises that is unlicensed. Harsh on customers I agree.
Curious as to why you ask such a question!
Is this really news at all?
