It’s time you know your onions.

According to ancient Chinese medicine, you can reap a lot of health benefits by using onions. Apart from internal consumption, external application of onions too play a vital role.

For instance, before going to bed, you can toss one slice of onion into your socks. The onion slice, positioned under your foot, will help heal the body.

The ancient Chinese believed that the bottom of the feet has access points, or meridians as it is called in Chinese medical terminology. These meridians, which are closely correlated with the nervous system, have direct connect with your internal organs.

Studies have confirmed that onion juice can do wonders to your health.

As onions are rich in phosphoric acid, they can efficiently absorb bacteria. The phosphoric acid in onion can do wonders when it enters the bloodstream. This method helps eliminate flu and other ailments.

Besides, the smelly onion under your feet will also help purify the air and keep your feet free of toxins whilst you sleep.

Not just that. Many people believe that onions can promote hair growth. Today, thick, well-shaped eyebrows are making a comeback as a beauty standard.

Recently, makeup guru and beauty blogger Farah Dhukai chalked out the beauty benefits of onion in her video. Dhaka suggested that onion juice helps in fixing bald eyebrows.

In 2002, the Journal of Dermatology published a study that looked into the use of application of onion juice for spot baldness or alopecia areata (an autoimmune disease that presents with patchy hair loss).

The research confirmed that participants who applied onion juice twice daily for two months experienced much better hair re-growth rates than compared to those who used only tap water. Men had better success with the hair treatment than did women.
