Ang pamahalaang Pilipino ay nagpapaalala sa mga migranteng manggagawa ng Pilipinas tungkol sa mga bansang itinuturing na hindi ligtas matapos bahagyang iangat ang pagbabawal nito sa pag-deploy sa Libya.
Sinabi ng Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) na mayroong 21 bansa o rehiyon na ipinagbabawal ang pag-deploy ng mga migranteng manggagawang Pilipino. Ang mga ito ay ang Afghanistan, Somalia, Sudan, Rwanda, Burundi, Syria, Yemen, Iraq, Republika ng Chechnya, South Sudan, Iraqi Kurdistan, Ukraine, Chad, Cuba, Hilagang Korea, Haiti, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Palestine at Zimbabwe, Iniulat ng Times.
Sinabi ng administrator ng POEA na si Bernard Olalia na ang mga migranteng manggagawa, lalo na ang mga domestic worker, ay malalagay sa panganib na harapin ang pang-aabuso at maltreatment sa mga lugar na ito.
“Kami ay hindi nagpapatupad ng mga migranteng manggagawang Pilipino sa mga bansa kung saan may mataas na panganib sa seguridad ng ating mga manggagawa, lalo na kung ang antas ng alerto ay malaki bilang sertipikado ng Department of Foreign Affairs,” sabi ni Olalia.
Noong Setyembre, ang mga migranteng manggagawang Pilipino ay pinagbawalan mula sa pagdedeploy sa Libya dahil sa pagdami ng karahasan sa bansa ng Hilagang Aprika. Gayunpaman, ang pamahalaan ng Pilipinas ay bahagyang nagbawas ng pagbabawal noong Enero at pinahintulutan ang mga naunang nagtrabaho sa Libya na makabalik sa bansa at bumalik sa kanilang mga trabaho.
