A 13-year-old secondary school student jumped to her death from a window of the family home on Wednesday.
At 2am, the girl surnamed Sham jumped from the kitchen window of an apartment at Wong Tai Sin Disciplined Services Quarters in Wong Tai Sin, Kowloon. At the time, her family were asleep, Headline Daily reported.
Residents discovered her on the building’s podium level and reported the case to the police. Paramedics arrived and sent the girl to hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
Her parents and older brother did not know about the tragedy until police officers knocked on their door.
Police said they found a suicide note which showed the girl, who was a Form 2 student in a secondary school in Ho Man Tin, was under pressure from her studies. An initial investigation did not suggest foul play.
This is the second case of student suicide in Hong Kong in three days.

Don’t pressure your child on study, just let them on their own ability to gain knowledge.
