Dr John Ioannidis, Professor of Medicine, Epidemiology and Population Health at Stanford University, has been called one of the most influential scientists alive by the Atlantic Monthly. His paper, “Why Most Published Research Findings are False”, is currently the most-accessed article at the Public Library of Science Medicine.
Dr Ioannidis, the C.F. Rehnborg Chair in Disease Prevention at Stanford, studies scientific research with a focus on clinical medicine. He has particular interest in large-scale evidence and meta-analysis, and his critique of existing research results has led him to propose improvements to methods and methods in efficient study design and analysis of biomedicine.
