A six-year-old girl, suspected to have been left unattended, has died after falling from an apartment building in Singapore on Tuesday afternoon.
The tragedy was discovered by a 53-year-old domestic worker who lived in the opposite block.
The incident happened at about 5.40pm in Ang Mo Kio Avenue 6 on June 4, when the worker, Letecia, heard a loud bang and found that the girl had fallen from her home on the 11th floor. When the woman looked down she saw the girl’s body face-down on the ground, the Lianhe Wanbao (Singapore) reported.
A man from the Home Improvement Programme office on the ground level rushed to the spot and called the police after finding the girl lying motionless at the foot of Block 637. The girl was later pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene.
The domestic worker, whose nationality was not revealed, told a reporter that the girl caught her attention as she appeared at the window a few times from around 3pm crying out for “Daddy”.
She said window grilles on the girl’s flat were usually shut, but the window and grilles were open on that afternoon.
A woman, who was believed to be the grandmother of the girl, turned up at the scene at around 6pm shortly after the police arrived.
Singapore Police are investigating the drama and the actual cause of the girl’s fall.
