China will release the first 5G commercial use license soon, Xinhua News Agency reported, citing information from the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.
China has built competitive advantages into the 5G industry, adopting principles of both independent innovation and open cooperation, the report said.
Industry standards for the fifth generation cellular network are jointly produced by industry players globally, in which China claims to have control of more than 30% of Standards-Essential Patents.
Several foreign companies, including Nokia, Ericsson, Qualcomm and Intel, have been deeply involved in the testing period, it said, adding that China has essentially built the fundamentals for 5G commercial use with contributions from foreign companies.
China always welcomes domestic and overseas companies’ participation in 5G network construction and applications to share in the fruits of 5G development in China, the report said.
