A 24-year-old Indonesian woman died in Singapore of severe head injuries on Friday, evidently after falling from a 10th-floor apartment where she had been cleaning windows.

The woman was found lying in a pool of blood, along with a bottle of window cleaner and a glass towel, at the foot of the building. According to a resident, a 48-year-old old housewife who lived on the seventh floor, the incident happened at around 11am at Block 615 on Woodlands Avenue 4, the Shin Min Daily News reported.

The resident and another passer-by quickly called for help, but the victim was pronounced dead by paramedics at the scene, reportedly due to severe head injury.

According to a report by Indonesian media outlet Suarabmi.com, the victim was identified as Dewi Astuti, 24, from West Java. She was the married mother of a son who is around one year old.

It was learned that the woman had only been in Singapore as a domestic worker since March.

Preliminary investigation suggested that the victim fell from her employer’s home on the 10th floor of the building while she was cleaning windows. Police and the Ministry of Manpower are investigating.
