A 65-year-old man died after he fell at his house while repairing an external wall in Tai Po in the New Territories on Tuesday.
At about noon, the man went to the rooftop of the house on Wun Yiu Road in Tai Po where he lived to repair the external walls as he had found water leaking down, Sing Tao Daily reported.
He was not equipped with any safety gear or a safety belt. He fell from the rooftop and injured his head when he hit the ground. His 58-year-old wife heard a loud sound, went to check and found her husband seriously injured.
The man was rushed to Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. Police ruled out any foul play and said it was an accident. It was the second fatal accident in two months involving people falling as they did refurbishment work.
On March 16, a 65-year-old man fell to his death in Shatin after he climbed to the first floor of a building to repair a leaking water pipe, without wearing any safety gear.
