A total of 184 foreign women were arrested by the Malaysian immigration authorities during raids on two entertainment centers in Kuala Lumpur on Wednesday night.

The Kuala Lumpur Regional Association Immigration had received citizens’ complaints regarding foreign citizens working illegally at the centers, The China Press reported.

At around 12:05am on May 1, immigration officers raided two premises at The Scott Garden on Jalan Klang Lama, where 421 persons underwent identity checks. Of those, a total of 190 were arrested, including 184 foreign women, three Bangladeshi men and three Malaysian men.

Preliminary investigations found that the 184 women, 175 Thais, five Lao and four Vietnamese, aged between 20 and 50, who were in Malaysia on social visit passes, were illegally working as guest relations officers and engaging in illicit sexual services.

While the three Bangladeshis were believed to be general employees, two of the three local men were identified as administrators of the entertainment centers, and the remaining local man was detained because he interfered with the authorities as they carried out their duties.

All foreign nationals detained are now assisting an investigation under under Section 38 (b) of the Immigration Act 1959/63 due to misuse of visit passes.

Meanwhile, the three local men are being investigated under Section 55B and Section 56 (1) (d) of the Immigration Act 1959/63.
