A South Korean man was sentenced to 15 years in prison on Tuesday for stabbing and killing his Filipina wife after an argument.
On December 9 last year, the 60-year-old man had an argument with his Filipina wife, 38, in their home in Yangsan, South Gyeongsang province, in South Korea. The man stabbed his wife, who died on the spot, The Korea Times reported.
He then called the police to say he had killed someone. When the police arrived at their home, the man was unconscious as he had stabbed himself. He was taken to a hospital immediately.
Police said the couple married seven years ago, but there had been no reports of domestic violence throughout their marriage. On Tuesday at the Ulsan District Court, the man was sentenced to 15 years in prison. The court said he had surrendered and confessed to his crime and that the killing was an expression of hatred against the Filipina.
The court said the man did not have a clear motive or extenuating circumstances for the crime.
