A 13-year-old boy died after jumping from a footbridge in Shatin in the New Territories on Wednesday morning after a fight over homework with his parents.

At 7:30 am, a passer-by called police to report that a boy was lying on the rocks of a slope about 70 meters below a footbridge at Shui Chuen O Estate in Shatin, news website reported.

Paramedics rushed the Form 2 student to the Prince of Wales Hospital where he was later pronounced dead. A suicide note was found, saying he was sorry to his family and felt hopeless about the future.

It was understood that the boy and his parents had a fight over homework issues the night before. He left home at 3 am and is thought to have then jumped from the bridge. Police found no suspicious circumstances, but the actual cause of death will be determined after an autopsy.

Szeto Hon-ming, a parenting specialist, said teenagers need time to adapt to a new environment when they enter secondary school. He urged parents to show more support and encouragement to their children and seek assistance from schools or counselors, the Apple Daily reported.

  1. I have been surfing on-line more than three hours today, but I by no means discovered any attention-grabbing article like yours. It is lovely price enough for me. In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made just right content material as you probably did, the net might be a lot more useful than ever before.
