A Filipino woman was shot dead by her ex-husband in front of their child in Las Vegas on April 25.
The Filipina, identified as 34-year-old Karen Gotidoc Lopez, was shot by her ex-husband Fernando Lopez after a heated argument inside their car. When the couple pulled over in front of a house, Fernando threatened his wife with a gun, the Philippine Daily Inquirer reported.
The woman asked a neighbor to hold on to her four-year-old child while she and her husband were having an argument. However, Fernando then shot his wife, who died on the spot.
A man in front of the house was armed and engaged Fernando in a shoot-out and Fernando was killed. One bystander was hit by a stray bullet, but is now in stable a condition.
The couple’s child was turned over to Child Protection Services. The couple also left behind a 10-year-old son. They reportedly married in 2015 and divorced last year.
